Team Unlimited Class: Chicago to Kansas City
Bullrun, Unlimited Class — By Cathy on August 5, 2006 at 11:28 pm — No CommentsThanks to Team Unlimited Class:
When we woke up in Chicago, Kevin and I both started in on our parts gathering lists. Then, in one of those “Jinx moments, we both looked at each other and said something to the effect of “let’s just go have some fun. It was apparent to us that the better part of our Bullrun experience would be fixing a wounded race car if we didn’t swallow some pride and just throw in the towel. Had this been a race, the engine would have been taken apart and rebuilt before we had come, and we would have had a support vehicle full of parts. In race conditions the Stude is a contender. On the Bullrun, jumping in Skiny’s brand new Audi A6 with AC and a radio seemed like the good way to go.

After a quick breakfast at Lake Forest Sports Cars with Colin and Eric Herrick and the Lotus Boys, Kevin and I were ready for a taste of stress free Bullrunning.

Skiny was going for a ride along with our pal Stefan for the day, so Kevin and I were taking over in the Audi. After some milling about with Skiny, Malik, and Stefan the TV helicopter started hovering above and we jumped in the Audi in preparation to run. When you hear the helicopter, you know you are getting your route card soon.
Skiny, Stefan and Malik doing their impression of politicians aka “All thumbs up!

The run was pretty uneventful … we were 7th or so to The Budweiser factory tour in St. Louis. I’m not sure where we placed in Kansas City, but I think it was top 15. We ran much of the day with our friend Jason G. in the Navigator.
About once an hour Kevin and I figured out a new plan to fix the Studebaker and get it back to running in the Bullrun … and then we would look at each other .. shake our heads .. and say “let’s just go have some fun! A few minutes later, Kevin would say “well … if we … It is hard to let some things go.
