Alfa Romeo is rumored to be working on a high-end luxury saloon to be based on the next-generation of the stunning Maserati Quattroporte. The new car would slot in as the 167 replacement and will definitely be sold in the US upon Alfaâs return. Original plans had Alfa using the same platform as the 159 sedan, but this proved too small so designers turned to sister company Maserati. The big Maser is one of our favorite cars on the market. It has everything youâd expect in a big saloon, and it just oozes style and presence.
The new car will be the first rear-wheel drive Alfa in almost 15 years, the last was the Alfa 75, and is likely to be built at the Maserati plant in Modena. Power will come from either a V6 or V8 engine, with the latter shared with the upcoming 8C Competizione supercar. The new car is expected to resemble the current Quattroporte but with the famous Alfa shield on a new nose.
