A faster edition of the V10 powered S6 was rumoured for a while now, but today it’s confirmed: the new RS6 testing on the Nordschleife. Audi is testing a 530bhp strong RS6 and that’s 43bhp more than BMWâs M5 and 16bhp more than the Mercedes E63, they probably want to join the succes of the competitors.
Under that hood, the direct-injection bi-turbo V10 features heavily revised intake and exhaust systems to deal with the lower compression ratio and higher charge pressures. While the power output climbs a modest 100bhp over the S6. Expect at least 500lb ft of twist in any of its six gears, resulting in a 4.5 second sprint to 62ph and a too bad 155mph limited top speed. Unlimited, the RS6 would easily hit 200mph.
The new RS6 will be presented on the Frankfurt Motorshow, next September. With a price of 96000 euro he’s in the same price class as the E63 and M5.
