After a lot of rumours about a super Corvette called the “Blue Devil” or “SS” we can now confirm that the newest Corvette will be called the ZR1. Totally new is hard to say because the Chevrolet Corvette C4 had a powerfull ZR1 version aswell. The ZR1 is meant to be one of the fastest production cars from Corvette.
All over the ZR1 carbon fibre is used to reduce the weight as much as possible. The American beast is powered by a 6,2 liter V8 with a huge supercharger. So far there are no further specs known about the LS-9 engine that’s under the hood of the ZR1.
Some sources say that the ZR1 will have an output between 620 bhp and 650 bhp with 800 Nm of torque. Topspeed is still secret, but as you can see in the pictures, the speedometer shows 220 mph (352 kmh) which probably confirms that the Corvette ZR1 will cross the 200 mph (320 kmh) barrier. The ZR1 will be presented at the Detroit Car show next january and it changes from owner for about $ 100 000.
