JJAD is a company set by former McLaren/Jordan F1 Designer Jim Dowle together with his Business Accountant Paul Burnham. They started their British dream with an eye-catching P1 sports car, presented back in February 2008. They have now switched it to electric power and claim that the JJAD P1-E is destined to be one of world’s first purpose-built electric sports cars. It is impressive in any way, because it has just drooling figures. A total weight of 1055 kg (2325 lbs) and a 0-62 mph (100 kmh) sprint of only 2.9 seconds. Hellow Veyron!
But then you see the price for this performance, which is expected around £ 55,000 ($ 74,900 – € 58,600) and first prototype should be running already this year. Goodbye Veyron.
If everything goes as planned the P1-E(production model will have a different name) should be available within the next 2-3 years. Not bad!
Jim Dowle says:
The P1-E’s twin electric motors and attendant lithium-ion batteries are placed for optimum weight distribution and low centre of gravity, while the long wishbones front and rear ensure ideal suspension geometry. Four-wheel drive gives the car with maximum traction. It also allows regenerative braking on each wheel, the energy gained from which is used to top up the batteries.
