Lotus Extrema
Car News, Supercar News, Tuning News — By Steven on January 27, 2009 at 1:49 pm — No Comments
When the word “extreme” appears in a car’s name, we can mostly expect some good news. This time that isn’t different. UK Garage, developed this Lotus Extrema, based on the Lotus Exige MK1 and built it in Milan. Yes, it’s an Italian tuner, and it will be a streetlegal racing Lotus available with several engines. First engine is the GM native LS3 one producing 420 bhp or 500 bhp, a LS7 having 519 bhp and last a LS9 with an amazing 649 bhp! This last one sprints to 62 mph (100 kmh) in just 2.9 seconds. Total weight is only 2130 lbs (970 kg). We believe it’s time to take this one out on the Nürburgring!
But that’s not all, there’s is more that got changed. First we notice is the bodykit on the Extrema, completely made out of carbon fibre. Wheelbase has grown with 8 inches (20 cm) just to provide space for the new engine and gearbox. The Extrema also got new shock absorbers, new breaks, rollcage and a fire extinguisher. Those are probably needed to stop this powerfull leightweight and provide too much damage when it goes wrong.
These figures mostly go together with rather high prices, but we can tell you that the Extrema is available from £ 62,000 ( 66,000 – $ 85,700), not bad if you ask us!
