Ford Mustang Coyote V8

Car News, Supercar News — By on May 21, 2009 at 2:41 pm — 3 Comments

By the end of last year Ford announced the 2010 model for it’s Mustang. The Mustang had the same 4.6 liter V8 engine as the previous GT. That’s not enough to stay competitive with the Dodge Challenger SRT8 and the Chevrolet Camaro SS, so Ford decided to produce a supercharged 5.0 liter V8 called the ‘Coyote’.

Official figures for this engine aren’t known yet but if we believe Ford’s Australian product development chief, Russel Christophers, they will be ‘pretty good’. The new engine will be officially introduced in 2011 but we expect the performance figures to be ready this summer!

A little bit old now but the 5.0 litre will definitely not be supercharged, Shelby versions will. Some more up to date info on the coyote:

what… bs the new coyote won’t be supercharged. it will have 415 hp, with a twin cam 5.0 with a 6 speed. where did the supercharger come from?

What? One website says its a quad-cam five-oh, another says its single-cam, and now I’m hearing its supercharged?

If its supercharged, then, hey ‘big deal, forced induction makes anything fast’…

Can anybody get the facts consistent?
