Mercedes-Benz Starts Production SLS AMG

Following its world premiere at the IAA 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany series production of the SLS AMG hass now commenced in Sindelfingen. The chassis and aluminium bodyshell are produced by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. Hand-production is the order of the day at the AMG engine workshops in Affalterbach, where the 420kW AMG 6.3-litre V8 power unit is assembled using the “one man, one engine” principle.
The SLS AMG will have its European market launch on March 27. Australian customer deliveries are currently expected to commence in the middle of this year.
