New Bugatti Veyron

The struggle to create the fastest production car on the planet will probably last forever. Since Bugatti presented its Supersport and competitor SSC showed its Ultimate Aero TT a new level of top speed has been rumoured.

Rumour says that the next Veyron will be even faster, 27km/h (17mph) to be precise. Power for the new Veyron would have to top at least 1,200bhp to make the 432km/h (270mph) target speed possible. Additionally, we would expect all-wheel drive, a dual-clutch gearbox, and turbocharging to remain within the setup.

The new looks of the second generation Veyron is unsure but we don’t expect to see any major design changes. First concept should be ready by early 2013 with official presentation later the same year.

  1. I love Bugatti, but I am still cheering SSC on. Those guys have a fantastic new car on the way. If this rendering is accurate, the new SSC car will be way more dramatic.

  2. Im voting for the SSC but we cant forget about the Keating TKR. They were the first to break 260mph with only 9 pounds of boost and said they can easily crank up the boost to upwards of 25-30psi which doubles the power of the engine. We will see what happens….

  3. It is pretty clear that they are done with making the super coupe, they will make the 4-doors Galibier instead. Everyone who want a super coupe already have one, there are no more additional buyers. Now those folks can use a super sedan.

  4. @Jeff C: Plenty of people would buy the successor to the veyron. If you can afford a veyron then you can afford a second veyron. As for the speed increase… Where in the hell can you go 270mph except for the VW test track? Its just a “who’s is bigger” or in this case “who’s is faster” between the veyron and the SSC. The average person wouldn’t take this car over 210mph+… You would pass out at 270mph. Either that or the tires would explode.

  5. or the fuel runs out 5 seconds later…. I also think that SSC´s car looks like crap, the thing with the veyron is that it is doesn´t look like a race car inside, it looks like a orgy of luxury. It weighs over 2 tons! if the would dump the weight i think they easily would go 270+

  6. @Filip They will charge even more for the second because they will have to take stuff out. I mean isn’t that how it always goes. I mean look at people who turn sports cars into track cars they buy the car then they gotta pay to have the interior removed. I wish car companies would allow you to order cars bone stock meaning just enough interior to hold everything together so you can do a custom interior. But car companies don’t do that typically unless you wanna pay more to get a track ready version which is ok but you still pay more for less.

So in the case of Bugatti I wonder if someone could ask for no A/C not leather no extras just 2 carbon fiber seats some 5 point racing harnesses a steering wheel and maybe some matching helmets (supplied by the buyer of course) we don’t want to be spending like $30k on two helmets).
