Teamspeed.com spies have sent this video from today’s ring testing of the next generation Porsche 911, internally called type 991.
The next-generation Porsche 911 is 56mm longer and the roof line is 11mm lower compared to the current model. The 345bhp 3.4 liter boxer engine propels the vehicle from zero to 100km/h in less than five seconds up to a top speed of 180mph. KERS – Kinetic Energy Recovery System – is standard and will be part of the entire model range.
I hear PDK shifting. Are they going to offer manual at all?
i wonder which one this is…
S?
2S?
4S?
Turbo?
carrera 4 Turbo GT(3)S targa black edition?
:) Mu you are absolutely right, which one is that :)
I would say it’s a Turbo because of the vents behind the doors. I’m no fan of Porsche but this looks ugly compared to the 997 which is actually pretty nice.
@Luke, These are camouflage, not a real vents. It’s probably one of the base non turbo, non GT Carreras.
Probably a carrera 4? (back looks wider or maybe it’s the new design)- dunno if it’s S model though…
I feel like the front end looks way too long considering its rear-engine and they should offer a stickshift manual. Paddle-shifters are fun if your running track laps but not if you’re driving around everyday. Nothing beats the thrust of letting out the clutch and flooring the gas on a 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th gear shift. It seems that Porsche is trying to slowly move toward competing with the BMW M3 and Audi S5 with this new 911 and in turn is making it too heavy and taking the driving pleasure out of it.
