Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe Shows Its Face Ahead of Debut

Speedfans.fr have published the first photos of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Coupe in red. The car was spotted at a test event on the Paul Ricard circuit in France ahead of its debut at the IAA 2011 in Frankfurt.

The vehicle parked inside one of the garages is clearly the new C63 AMG Black Series Coupe rumoured and discussed for weeks now. Unfortunately, it is not as hardcore as its ancestor. The sports car is more focussed to the road than the track and is powered by a 6.2 liter V8 producing a maximum torque of 640Nm and 510bhp, 30bhp more than the C63 AMG with the Performance Package. The power train is linked to a seven-speed ‘Speedshift’ MCT automatic with a limited slip diff. The French expect a 0-100km/h in four seconds.

Overall, only 20kg has been shed from the total weight and the vehicle will not be available in a limited series. Expected price tag is € 100,000.

  1. I think you guys are mistaken. I think you guys are thinking the old one is the CLK63 Black Series right? Of course that is better, that was not the old C coupe, that CLK63 was pretty much an E-class coupe. The old C coupe is that C230 hatchback thing, that hideous little crap box. This one is much better. The C63 coupe is ugly I think, looks very similar to an Accord coupe, but this Black series makes it ok with all that fender flares. I guess anything looks ok with huge fender flares.

  2. Depends on what you mean by outrun, the regular C63 sedan already outrun the M3 in a straight line, but M3 generally handles better. Is hard to say if this more track focus black series will handle better then an M3.
