Audi Recalls R8 Spyder

Audi USA is recalling about 920 of its high-performance R8 Spyders from the 2011-12 model years because of a fire hazard.

All R8 Spyders built between May 18th, 2010 and June 22, 2011 will be recalled. The fuel supply line may contact and rub against the heat shield in the engine compartment, which could lead to a small fuel leak. It is not difficult to understand this poses a potential treat as a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could cause a vehicle fire.

The official recall is expected to begin on August 22. The fuel line of all cars recalled will be inspected by the dealers, and if necessary replaced free of charge. No serious incidents has been reported, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
