Mercedes Approves Production of the CLC Shooting Break

The Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake is due to enter production in 2012 and according to reports, a smaller Shooting Break may be launched in 2014.

Mercedes-Benz boss Dieter Zetsche has given approval for a second Shooting Brake model based on the upcoming Mercedes CLC. The Mercedes CLC variant would be priced and positioned below the larger CLS.

The Mercedes CLC Shooting Break will be sporty five-door wagon that will be based on the CLC sedan. The CLC Shooting Break is expected to be heavily influenced by the Concept Shooting Brake and therefore will receive a sloping roof-line and a heavily-stylized rear end.

Most details are still unknown, but the CLC Shooting Break will be based on the MFA platform, which also provides the ride for the upcoming A and B classes. The CLC Shooting Break would be available with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines.
