Tonight’s presentation by the Volkswagen Group in Frankfurt will feature a new Gallardo; the most extreme factory version ever. The Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is based on the successful Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo.

The supercar will be produced in a limited run of 150 units. There are many similarities between the racing and road versions of the sports car. They both share the same V10 power plant with no modifications and the same adjustable rear spoiler offering three times as much down force as the Gallardo LP 560-4. The new car also features an engine hood with quick-release system.

Both the spoiler and the hood are manufactured from carbon composite materials. Aluminium and carbon fiber form the basis for the extremely lightweight Super Trofeo Stradale. It has a maximum dry weight of 1,340kg, shaving an extra 70kg from the LP 560-4. The power-to-weight ratio of 2.35 kilograms per hp allows the car to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and 200km/h just 10.4 seconds later. Top speed is 320km/h.

The Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale has a brand new “Rosso Mars” paint finish. It pays homage to Italy’s racing red. The rear spoiler gets a matte black finish as well as the engine hood and the front air intakes, which contrasts with the “Rosso Mars” paint. The forged wheels are painted in high-gloss black which is also available on the roof as an option. The rocker panel covers, impressive rear diffuser and outside mirror housings are made of glossed carbon fiber, while the brake calipers are accented in red. Other exterior colors include “Grigio Telesto” or “Bianco Monocerus”.

Black and red are the dominant shades inside the Super Trofeo Stradale. The car is upholstered in Alcantara and extremely lightweight carbon fiber. Black Alcantara with contrasting red top-stitching is used to finish the other parts of the interior. The steering wheel is black suede and also features red top-stitching. The door panels, the monocoque racing seats and the center console cover are made of carbon fiber.

The V10 power plant generates 570hp, which is fully available at 8,000rpm with the torque curve peaking at 540Nm and 6,500rpm. The transmission has been “race tested” in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship series. It features a semi-automated, egear six-speed transmission controlled by steering wheel paddles as part of the standard equipment. The transmission can be set to the “Thrust Mode” which allows the car to reach the best performance possible at approximately 5,000rpm.

There’s permanent all-wheel drive for maximum traction. The suspension is directly derived from motor racing, a double aluminum wishbone is fitted. Precise rack-and-pinion steering allows the driver to take full advantage of its dynamic potential. Ultra-lightweight 19 inch wheels save 13kg. Wheel bearings and bolts are made from titanium and high performance Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires are fitted.

The ESP stability control system is standard equipment. The front axle has aluminum calipers with eight pistons each, and the calipers on the rear axle have four pistons each. The ventilated discs on the front and rear measure 365 and 356 millimeters, respectively. Lamborghini will also install a carbon-ceramic brake system on request. The carbon-ceramic discs measure 380mm for the front wheels and 356mm for the rear wheels.

The final options are designed with racing in mind. Carbon-fiber ceramic brake discs, a tubular interior roll cage, four-point safety belts and a fire extinguisher can all be fitted. On the other hand, those who want comfort can equip their Super Trofeo Stradale with a satellite navigation, with Bluetooth connection for mobile phones, an anti-theft system, and a lifting system.

So there it is, the new Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale, we’ll be bringing you photos from the show tomorrow. In the mean time, enjoy these press shots!
