Number 5: The most powerful luxury sedan in the world

IAA 2011 Brabus Rocket 800

Starting with number 5 in our list of highlights, we find the Brabus Rocket 800, the most powerful luxury sedan in the world. The tuner from Bottrop, Germany has installed a V12 into the current Mercedes-Benz CLS model. The engine provides as the name suggests a whopping 800 horsepower and 1,420Nm of torque, which has been limited to ‘only’ 1,100Nm. An acceleration from zero to 100km/h is done in 3.7 seconds, 23.8 seconds to 300km/h and a top speed of 370km/h. Read more here!

Number 4: The lightest of them all

IAA 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale

Another Lamborghini Gallardo with a big name, this time it is the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. Hopefully the final edition before we will see the new model and successor to the Gallardo being released. Aluminium and carbon fiber form the basis for the extremely lightweight Super Trofeo Stradale. It has a maximum dry weight of 1,340kg, shaving an extra 70kg from the LP 560-4. The power-to-weight ratio of 2.35 kilograms per hp allows the car to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and 200km/h just 10.4 seconds later. Top speed is 320km/h. Read more here!

IAA 2011 Ferrari 458 Spider

At the 2011 IAA, the Italians at Ferrari pulled the cover of their latest creation, the 2012 Ferrari 458 Spider. The mid-rear engined V8 roadster is equipped with a Ferrari patented, fully retractable hard top, a world first for a sports car with this lay-out. The 458 Spider is powered by the same naturally-aspirated, direct-injection 4.5 liter V8 as the coupe. The power is transferred to the road by a dual-clutch F1 paddle-shift transmission through the E-Diff, itself integrated with the F1-Trac traction control and ABS. Read more here!
