The 2014 model of the Chevrolet Corvette (C7) will be available with a seven-speed manual transmission. This news has been confirmed by Inside Line, who has a ‘trusted source’ close the C7 Corvette project. If this news is correct, it would mean that the next generation Corvette could offer improved fuel efficiency and tighter gearing.
The new C7 Corvette will be powered by a 5.5 liter small block V8 that features a number of technical advancements including an aluminium block and heads and a revised combustion system. The engine will retain the pushrod, overhead valve design configuration. Power will likely total 440hp, an improvement over the 436 horsepower available currently in the Corvette C6, but with improved fuel economy due to the new engine’s smaller size and advanced features.
