The Bugatti Veyron Grand SuperSport is on its way to rich and famous around the world. The limited edition and more powerful version of the Grand Sport was confirmed by Bugatti’s CEO Wolfgang Durheimer in August of last year, but Autoblog.nl has new information that indicates a release in the first half of 2012.

According to our Dutch colleagues, the Grand SuperSport will have between 1,001 and 1,200hp, and the order book is open in the US. Spyphotos released in August revealed a first glimpse of the “improved” convertible Veyron. The photos showed that the hypercar maker combined two models. The NACA air ducts that usually are on the Super Sport model had been changed for the normal Grand Sport air intakes due to the fact that the NACA air ducts will not work with the roof removed.

The current information suggests that Bugatti will introduce a glass roof instead of the open-top setup of the Grand Sport. This is mainly because of the increased power potential of the hypercar and the structural stifness of the body work.

Stay tuned for more and an expected release at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
