British car magazine Autocar drove the brand new Bentley Continental GT V8 and asked themselves the question; “How well does the new engine deliver in the new Bentley Continental GT?”

The new 4.0 liter, twin turbocharged V8 has been placed in the front of the Bentley Continental GT coupé. The new Bentley V8 engine delivers maximum power of 507hp at 6,000 rev/min and a peak torque of 660Nm, which is available across virtually the entire rev range from 1,700 to 5,000 rev/min.

Combined with a new close-ratio eight-speed automatic transmission, this translates into a 0-60mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds for the GT coupe, 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, and a top speed of 188mph or 303km/h.

Bentley’s new 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 is 40 per cent more efficient than the company’s W12, yet still produces 500bhp. For more information on the New Bentley Continental GT and GTC V8 read our official post containing all the information, pictures and a video.
