The guys over at SocialSpeedZone spotted Jay Leno and his jet bike at the Rock Store on Mulholland drive near Los Angeles. The engine sounds like a helicopter preparing for lift off.

The jet bike has been build by a company in the US. It is powered by a jet engine from a Bell Jet Ranger helicopter. It does not work by thrust but by rotating a shaft that drives the wheels. There is a two-speed reduction gear. Also, it does not shoot fire out of the exhaust (afterburner) although the exhaust temperature at idle (20,000rpm) reaches 1200 degrees Fahrenheit.
