British sports car maker Morgan is planning the release of a new electric model concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March. According to Automotive News, the model will be electric retro-styled roadster with a manual transmission.

Earlier reports dating back to August 2011 have confirmed the existance of two electric concepts to be released at Geneva Auto Salon. Autmotive News reports only one model is planned. In about three weeks we know the answer.

UK-based engineering firm Zytek supplies the drivetrain for the Plus E. The prototype Morgan will use a new derivative of Zytek’s proven 70kW (94bhp) 300Nm electric powertrain, which is already supplied to US vehicle manufacturers.

The powertrain and batteries will be mounted in a bonded and riveted aluminium chassis constructed by metal former Radshape, based on an evolution of the design already manufactured by the company for Morgan’s Supersports range.

The new Morgan Plus E Concept will be showcased next to the new conventional Aero Coupe, Plus 8 and Roadster 3.7 liter.
