Official Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT

Merecedes-Benz has today released a facelifted Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT, which will replace the current SLS AMG. It gets enhancements to driver dynamics, increased power, modifications to the gearbox and further interior options. The SLS AMG GT will be available in both coupe and convertible form.

Engine modifications include in-engine dethrottling measures and an increase in peak pressure. The maximum output of the AMG 6.3 liter V8 rises to 591hp at 6,800rpm and 650Nm of torque at 4,750rpm, a 28hp increase over the outgoing model. Mercedes engineers have also fitted an optimised AMG Speedshift DCT seven-speed sports transmission with fastershift times and better control overall. The SLS AMG GT accelerates from zero to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds, and can reach a speed of 200km/h in 11.2 seconds. Top speed is an electronically limited 320km/h.

The GT gets AMG ride control coupled with its twin aluminium wishbone syspension and all round and variable, electronically controlled damping. This means stiffer spring and damper with more responsive control algorithms, meaning each suspension mode adapts quicker to the road surface and improves the ride quality too. AMG Ride Control takes care of the suspension settings.

The GT comes with ten-spoke, 19 inch alloy wheels up front, with 265/35 tyres, and 20 inch wheels at the rear, with 295/30-series tyres. To distinguish the SLS GT, features will include darkened headlamps and tail lights, red-painted brake callipers, and a unique set of body parts. Examples include the wing-shaped cross fins and the star recess in the radiator grille which feature a high-gloss finish, as do the exterior mirrors and the fins on the bonnet and wings. Next to the AMG logo on the right of the boot lid you will also find “GT” lettering.

Inside, the sports seats feature an embossed badge on the head restraints, Alcantara also features heavily on the center console and door panels. Whilst the interior has a black theme, the stitching is a red contrast as are the seatbelts. AMG designo exclusive style leather is now available for the SLS AMG GT too, it features diamond design stitching and a choice of different colour options. The usual refinements will also be made available on the option list including a range of carbon fiber pieces.

Customers will start to receive cars in October 2012. Prices will be 204,680 euros for the SLS AMG GT and 213,010 euros for the Roadster. The upgrade to AMG designo Exclusive leather will cost 5,771.50 euros. All prices quoted are for German customers and include relevant taxes.
