The McLaren F1 was the last major production car with a central seating arrangement. It doesn’t look like that’s going to change for a while. Perhaps that’s why a Florida-based tuning company decided to convert this Porsche 911 (997) Cabriolet into a central seated homage.

The Cabriolet drew plenty of attention at the ALMS Petit LeMans race in Atlanta recently. The company that built it, Centro 911, spent a massive amount of time shifting the entire cockpit further to the right. Modifications were made to the electronics and air condition system among other aspects. The seat shifts from left to right, aiding entry into the cockpit.

As you’ll see from the video below, it’s a pretty unique creation! Let us know what you think in comments box below. For more photos check out Zach Courter on Flickr!

  1. Absolutely fantastic!!! I think it totally trumps the McLaren F1 because it is a Porsche. You can drive it everyday, to the store, to pick up the kids, etc… I especially love the sliding seat for easy entry/exit. My only question is this, can you convert my ’06 Turbo?

  2. Hi 556klb,
Unfortunately we cannot modify your turbo. Because our current conversion is suitable for all rear wheel drive 997 Porsches only. Turbo’s have all wheel drive. Appreciate the feedback. Please stay in touch, we love the feedback for future projects. You can check out more on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/centro911
