Audi to introduce four new TDI clean diesel models to the U.S. Market

During an annual Audi conference in March last year, Audi USA president Johan de Nysschen at the time announced the expansion of the Audi TDI clean diesel engines into the US market adding to the already available Q7 and A3. These additional models are A6, A7, A8 and Q5 and will all be available next week’s Los Angeles Auto Show.

As for the A6, A7 and Q5 the powerhouse features a 3.0 liter turbocharged diesel V6 as in the Q7 rated at 240 horsepower and 406lb-ft (550Nm) while the A8 which will hit the market first in spring 2013 gets the same turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 that develops 240 horsepower with 406lb-ft of torque with a fuel economy of 24mpg in the city and 36mpg on the highway.

The current Audi USA president Scott Keogh added that, “Owners of Audi TDI engines have helped save over four million gallons of gasoline, or the equivalent of more than 240,000 barrels of foreign oil, since the introduction of Audi TDI to the U.S. in 2009.”
