News coming out of China tells us that a drunk driver smashed his Honda sedan into this matte black Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 in Lanzhou, Gansu province. According to official sources, the driver later registered a 232.11mg/100ml blood alcohol test. To put that into perspective, the Chinese drink driving limit is 80mg/100ml.

From what we understand (our Chinese conversion is a little rusty) the accident wasn’t the Lamborghini drivers fault. It seems that the driver of the Honda was turning across several lanes of traffic when it hit the right side of the Murcielago LP640. The driver and three passengers fled the scene of the accident but were later found.

After refusing to provide a breath sample or a driving license, the Honda driver was taken to hospital for blood samples to be taken. There is some mention of a government connection with the Honda driver although details are unclear. The Lamborghini owner had only picked up the car three days earlier. The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 will be transported back to Beijing for repairs.

China takes a hard line approach to drink driving which means that this driver can expect a penal detention up to six months if and when he gets convicted.

  1. Now the driver, his family, and all of his relatives must work for lifetime for compensation. And that would probably only amend one headlight cover of the Lambo.
