1935 Duesenberg Model SJ Convertible Coupe by Walker-LaGrande

RM Auctions will open their Amelia Island Concours 2013 event today. We thought we’d give a small preview of some of the high-value lots! The auction includes over 80 cars with some very elegant vehicles on offer. RM Auctions will kick off on 09 March at the Ritz-Carlton, 4750 Amelia Island Parkway, Amelia Island, FL 32034. The auction starts at 11:00 EST.

The headline lot is undoubtedly the 1954 Pegaso Z-102 Series II Cabriolet by Saoutchik. Its an elegant 2-seater roadster, built in Spain and considered a supercar of its time. It has a 165bhp, 2,814cc quad overhead camshaft V-8 engine with a two-barrel Weber carburetor, five-speed manual transaxle, independent front suspension with de Dion-type rear, and four-wheel drum brakes. Guide price is $1,250,000 – $1,750,000.

RM Auctions at Amelia Island Concours 2013 also incudes a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB by Scaglietti estimated to reach between $1,000,000 – $1,300,000. With low mileage and a national concours history, the Ferrari features a 280bhp, 3,286cc overhead cam V-12 engine, triple 40DCZ/6 Weber carburetors, rear-mounted five-speed manual transaxle, four-wheel upper and lower wishbone coil spring independent suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes.

By way of modern metal, the auction has two highlights, the 2003 Aston Martin DB AR1 by Zagato and a Porsche Carrera GT. The 2003 Aston Martin DB AR1 by Zagato is number 73 of 99. It features a 435bhp, 6.0-liter V-12 engine with four overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, six-speed manual transmission with twin-plate racing clutch, four-wheel independent suspension, and four-wheel Brembo disc brakes.

1970 Porsche 908/3

Two Duesenberg’s are also available, a 1931 Duesenberg Model J Tourster by Derham valued at $900,000 – $1,200,000 and an exclusive 1935 Duesenberg Model SJ Convertible Coupe by Walker-LaGrande valued at a staggering $3,500,000 – $5,000,000. The first features a 265bhp, 420 cu. in. four valves per cylinder DOHC inline eight-cylinder engine, three-speed manual transmission, front beam axle and live rear with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and vacuum-assisted four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. The second has a 320 bhp, 420 cu. in. DOHC inline eight-cylinder engine with centrifugal supercharger, three-speed manual transmission, beam type front and live rear axles with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and vacuum-assisted four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.

Other highlights of RM Auctions at Amelia Island Concours 2013 include a 1952 Ferrari 225 Sport Berlinetta ‘Tuboscocca’ by Vignale valued at between $1,000,000 – $1,400,000, a 1926 Rolls-Royce Springfield Silver Ghost Playboy Convertible Coupe by Brewster, a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing.

1954 Pegaso Z-102 Series II Cabriolet by Saoutchik

Competition fans will be interested by the 1970 Porsche 908/3 valued at $1,400,000 – $1,700,000. Number four of 13 examples produced, this particular example is the factory test-chassis of the Targa Florio-winning model that contributed to Porsche’s 1970 and 1971 Makes Championship. It features a 350bhp, 2,997 cc DOHC air-cooled flat eight-cylinder engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, five-speed manual transaxle, four-wheel independent suspension with coil springs and shock absorbers, and four-wheel disc brakes.
