Spyshots: Mercedes-Benz S-Class 'W222'

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been officially scheduled to make its debut on May 15th in Hamburg thanks to Daimler boss, Dieter Zetsche.

The updated S-Class has been spied testing on numerous instances throughout the past few months, and this news comes as no surprise to us as Mercedes-Benz is rightfully excited to get orders and production for the brand new S-Class underway.

Zetsche said, “The S-class is the most important car of all to us. Its success makes us stronger going forward,” and with Maybach officially biting the dust, Zetsche confirmed that the new S-Class will be offered in an array of variants not seen before as to help fill the top-of-the-range void left by the departure of Maybach.

As a result, Mercedes-Benz hopes to create luxurious versions to directly compete with the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

“We can sell more cars at better prices with the S-class. Pushing the S-class upmarket will also further strengthen and balance the Mercedes brand at the top end just as we are going smaller with the A-class range of cars,” concluded Zetsche.
