Gallery Overview 6 Hours of Silverstone

The 6 Hours of Silverstone ended in style with Audi taking two victories, which are first and second positions hence extending their winning streak from the previous win at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March. This win was even more special for Audi for they won the coveted RAC Tourist Trophy which has been awarded since 1905.

The following gallery is a photoset by Steve Roe; it shows an overview of the whole race, with different scenes from the race track to the pits and even the fans. Qualified 3rd and fifth after their spots were snatched away from them by the Toyota TS030 Hybrids, on the race day, they managed to put the number 1 and 2 Audi R18 e-tron quattros back in the lead, thanks to the team of Scotsman Allan McNish in the #2 Audi Tom Kristensen in the #1 Audi with his new team-mate Loïc Duval.

This is what Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, Head of Audi Motorsport said:

It’s very nice to be able to finish the first WEC race in 2013 with a one-two victory. From the beginning to the end, we showed a consistently good performance. Both cars were running on different strategies and it was thrilling through to the end. Although car number 1 was ultimately handicapped the lap times were very strong. A duel of the kind fought between Allan McNish and Benoît Tréluyer is unrivalled in motorsport. That proves that our drivers are free to battle on track. But they also know that they’re driving for the Audi brand and they impressively showed that.
