Jaguar Trademarks Q-Type and XG Names With SUV Likely

Rumors about Jaguar developing an SUV have just been hit with a boost after Piston Heads discovered that the company has trademarked the Q-Type and XQ names with the European Union trademark database.

Developing a SUV could prove to be quite a profitable move on Jaguar’s part as the SUV market is continuing to boom and thanks to the company’s ties with Land Rover, a Jaguar SUV would likely share the underpinnings of the stunning Range Rover Evoque.

Jaguar has previously stated that it isn’t looking down the large SUV range currently occupied by cars such as the Range Rover Sport and Audi Q7 and has instead hinted that a more compact route is likely.

It’s currently unclear when a possible Jaguar SUV could debut, but when and if it does, it’ll be available with a selection of engines including a 2.0-liter turbo petrol, a 2.0-liter diesel as well as a 3.0-liter petrol, 3.0-liter diesel and possibly a more expensive hybrid option.
