Report: Audi A9 Coming in 2016

Audi’s already large sedan lineup is said to receive a new flagship car in the coming years with Auto Motor und Sport reporting that an Audi A9 is set for a 2016 release.

Whispers of an Audi A9 flagship sedan have been circulating for quite some time, but this latest speculation is the most believable thus far with Auto Motor und Sport claiming that the 2016 Audi A9 will be based on the platform currently used by the Audi Q7 SUV.

While others news regarding the 2016 Audi A9 is scarce, it’s likely that the car will be offered with a selection of engines including a V8 powerplant pumping out at least 500hp.

Furthermore, the 2016 Audi A9 could debut with a semi-autonomous driving system which can drive and park the car without any inputs needed from the driver.

If and when the 2016 Audi A9 does hit the market, it’s likely that an RS-variant would follow a couple of years later.

  1. I'm admittedly an Audi fanboy, but the design is beginning to look a little long in the tooth, even the esteemed interiors. It's best that Audi let Mercedes go ahead and have 2014 w/ its slew of new designs & products… then cut them off only a year or so later. So far, I like what I see in the pipeline from Audi. Anxious to see the new Q7 and Q9.
