Range Rover Sport Hybrid to Debut in September at Frankfurt Auto Show 2013

A Range Rover Sport Hybrid has been officially confirmed by Land Rover’s Chief Programme Engineer ahead of its world debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show 2013 in September.

Land Rover’s Chief Programme Engineer Stuart Frith said that the updated Range Rover Sport will now be offered with a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain just a couple of months after being first revealed in 2014 specification at the New York International Auto Show 2013.

It’s currently unclear what exactly will power the Range Rover Sport Hybrid but an adapted version of the 3.0-liter TDV6 diesel found in the 2011 Range Rover e plug-in hybrid is likely.

That engine produced 242hp from its naturally aspirated six-cylinder which was then combined with a 93hp electric motor bringing the total horsepower rating up to an impressive 334hp. This engine was then mated to a ZF eight speed automatic transmission.
