Speaking to British magazine AutoCar, McLaren has confirmed that a successor to their P1 hypercar will not be released for at least a decade, if not longer.

McLaren sales and marketing chief Greg Levine went further as to say “the only way a car like the P1 works is by being exclusive and having a short product cycle. After that, you have to step back from the market for a few years. These sort of launches can only happen every ten years or so.”

According to recent reports from the British automaker, nearly 75% of all P1s have been sold. Of those 75%, nearly all owners have ordered some form of bespoke modification for their car. According to AutoCar, many owners had the air conditioning removed in order to save weight. Other weight saving options include an optional unpainted carbon fiber weave that will reduce weight even more.

The McLaren P1 will cost a reported £866,000, barring any options.
