Maserati GranTurismo, Quattroporte and Alfa Romeo 8C Recalled Over Rust Concerns

Maserati GranTurismo, Quattroporte and Alfa Romeo 8C Recalled Over Rust Concerns

Select 2005-2008 Maserati Quattroporte’s, 2008 Maserati GranTurismo’s and 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C’s are currently being recalled due to concerns that the tie rod ends have insufficient corrosion protection and are at risk of excessive rust.

The recall has been announced by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and if the aforementioned components due rust, they could potentially fail therefore causing the driver to lose control and result in an accident.

Now at this point, you may be thinking why the Alfa Romeo 8C is being recalled alongside the Maserati GranTurismo and Maserati Quattroporte? Well, that’s because the Alfa Romeo 8C was built on the same production line as the Maserati GranTurismo.

According to the NHTSA, there are 7,438 vehicles affected by this issue and the recall is expected to begin in June 2013.

If it’s determined that an individual car is at risk, then all repair costs will be covered.
