Villa d'Este 2013: Subaru Viziv Concept

At the recent Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013 in Italy, Subaru showed off their new Subaru Viziv Concept car which made its world debut earlier this month and GTspirit was on hand to capture the following images of it.

The interesting styling of the Subaru Viziv Concept is equally matched by its unique drivetrain which features Subaru’s 2.0-liter Boxer diesel engine and an electric motor powering the front wheels. This engine is then mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission.

In addition to this power, the Subaru Viziv Concept also features a pair of electric motors powering the rear wheels, thus creating what Subaru described as an “independent rear motor-driven All-Wheel-Drive system”. The Subaru Viziv Concept then features an advanced system which adjusts the power sent through the rear wheels when turning to ensure maximum torque is provided to the outside wheel at the right moment.
