Underground Racing has quickly become the face of Lamborghini twin-turboing around the world and their latest feat shows just why the popularity of twin-turbo Lamborghini Gallardo’s by Underground Racing is increasing.
While attending The Houston Half Mile event on May 11th, 2013, no less than five twin-turbo Lamborghini Gallardo’s managed to reach top speeds in excess of 195mph in the standing half mile with a new world record being ultimately set by a man called Cody in his completely street legal 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera Twin-turbo by Underground Racing.
The car, which is fitted with an e-gear transmission and delivers an insane 1500whp managed to reach a top speed of 217.1mph in half a mile making it 5mph faster than a twin-turbo Ford GT by Hennessey which once held the record. That particular twin-turbo Ford GT by Hennessey managed to hit a top speed of 267mph in the standing full mile, and based on these figures and after some transmission tuning, this Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera Twin-turbo by Underground Racing could be well on its way to beating that record speed also.
Making this Gallardo’s feat all the more impressive is the fact that it’s a street car, while the twin-turbo Ford GT by Hennessey is a purpose built race car!
