Official: 2013 Subaru V8 BRZ by Weapons Grade Performance

Late last year we brought you a single-shot of a Subaru BRZ undergoing a dramatic V8-conversion courtesy of Weapons Grade Performance and that build was recently completed with stunning results.

The Subaru BRZ jointly developed by Toyota has received great praise since its reveal mid-last year, but a common complaint of the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT 86 has been in regards to its small 2.0-liter boxer, four-cylinder engine producing just 200hp. While such a powerplant is light, many have complained about it being lacklustre in terms of performance, but the 2013 Subaru BRZ by Weapons Grade Performance certainly escapes such issues.

Fitted with an LS2 V8 engine, the Subaru BRZ by Weapons Grade Performance simply started with the owner of Weapons Grade Performance measuring the engine by of a Subaru BRZ with one key goal; to implant a massive American V8 engine in there. This particular LS2 V8 engine is custom and features components from a selection of different LS-powered V8 muscle cars with the air conditioning condenser for example, coming from the Cadillac CTS-V.

While fitting a V8 into a car as small as the Subaru BRZ may seem like an impossible task, Weapons Grade Performance were able to complete the transplant and then set about upgrading their Subaru BRZ with a selection of other performance-oriented components. Most notably, the Subaru BRZ by Weapons Grade Performance then includes coilover suspension from KW Shocks.

What’s more, the car has then been fitted with a set of tweaked carbon ceramic brakes from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.
