Video: 1500hp Porsche 911 Catches Fire at Unlim 500+

As we know, the Unlim 500+ drag races in Russia bring together some of the fastest and most highly modified supercars on the planet. As a matter of fact, a 1700hp Nissan GT-R and 2005hp Lamborghini Gallardo TT have raced there and cemented their positions as two of the world’s fastest street cars.

In the latest drag race to take place at the events, a 1500hp Porsche 911 Turbo was pitted against a 1500hp Nissan GT-R. While the result of the following video isn’t entirely reflective of the truth, as the Nissan GT-R driver was a full 1.1 seconds slower off the line, the real action took place after the 1500hp blue Porsche 911 Turbo completed its one mile run.

Near the end of the run, smoke started pouring out the rear of the Porsche and before long flames could be seen exiting the exhaust pipes. The driver managed to pull away in the car and drive it back to the pitline, but it’s likely that some serious damage has been done and unfortunately, that’s the risk you take when modifying supercars to this extent!
