Toyota Hybrid-R Concept

Toyota revealed a teaser of their latest concept, due for an unveil at IAA 2013 early in September. It is set to feature a powertrain that uses similar technology to that of Toyota Racing’s TS030 Hybrid race car which is currently being campaigned in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Several websites have already reduced the light levels on the small teaser to reveal that it will in fact be based upon the Toyota Yaris. Whilst a Yaris isn’t normally newsworthy for us, this latest version is sure to feature an interesting layout that could perhaps make its way into other Toyota performance products.

So far, all we have been officially told about the Toyota Hybrid-R Concept is that it combines a high-power internal combustion engine with electric motors to achieve a maximum power output of more than 400bhp. A dual mode control allows the car’s performance to be tailored to suit either road or racetrack.
