Official: 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel

Ahead of the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 in a couple of weeks, Porsche has subtly taken the wraps off the facelifted 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel.

As the model year suggests, the 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel receives the same minor makeover the rest of the Panamera range recently received. This includes slightly redesigned headlights and taillights as well as slightly modified front and rear bumpers. While these styling upgrades certainly are noteworthy, the real developments of the 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel come under the hood.

First and foremost, the 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel receives a new variant of the Audi 3.0-liter V6 diesel. This powerplant lifts horsepower significantly up to 296hp at 4000rpm with torque also dramatically increased from 405lb-ft to 479lb-ft. That new peak torque output is found between 1750 and 2500rpm.

In addition to the upgraded engine, the 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel has also received a revised version of the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. Arguably most significantly however, the new Panamera Diesel has also received Porsche’s advanced torque vectoring system which includes a new electric differential lock.

When it’s all said and done, the 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel can sprint to 100km/h 0.8 seconds faster than its predecessor. That makes for a time of 6 seconds flat with top speed increased by 14km/h to now reach the heights of 259km/h.
