Amid weeks of speculation about who would partner the three time world champion, Red Bull has announced that Australian Daniel Ricciardo will be Vettel’s teammate at Infinity Red Bull racing from 2014 onward.

The official announcement comes after Mark Webber allegedly leaked the news to Australian TV early last week. Ricciardo will be taking the place of Mark Webber, who will retire from Formula 1 to join Porsche’s LMP1 effort at the end of the season.

Red Bull and team principal Christian Horner did not comment on the length of Ricciardo’s deal or how much he will be paid for his work. Considering Webber was consistently signed to one year contracts, we can only assume Ricciardo will be given the same treatment.

Now that Red Bull’s driver line up has been confirmed for 2014, the rumors about Kimi Raikkonen and Alonso joining the squad will hopefully die down a bit. Although knowing F1, the silly season is far from over.
