Heading into a slight right-hander, Franchitti’s car hit the rear of a competitor and rocketed towards the fence. The crash was at such high-speed that the front-end of Franchitti’s IndyCar was completely destroyed. Much of the debris then flew into the crowd thus injuring 13 spectators.
