That's Surprising, 5000hp Devel Sixteen Actually Runs!

When the 5000 hp Devel Sixteen was unveiled to stunned attendants at the Dubai Motor Show 2013, we were understandably blown away. Not only by the futuristic Lamborghini inspired styling, but also because of the claimed performance figures.

The company behind this insane creation says that it is powered by a 7.2-liter V16 engine joined with four-turbochargers producing an insane 5000 hp. Consequently, the company claims the Devel Sixteen can hit 96 km/h (60 mph) in just 1.8 seconds and a simply out of this world 560 km/h.

As we have learnt in the past from other start-up supercar companies, quoting insane figures like these is very simple with no proof needed. As a result, we thought the engine found in the display car was for just that, display purposes. However, now a video has been posted online showing the Devel Sixteen driving for the first time and it sounds absolutely brutal and you can even hear the functioning turbos!

Do we ever think the Devel Sixteen will reach 560 km/h? No. Developing tyres to survive such insane speeds would likely cost more than the entire project has thus far.

Nevertheless, from a visual standpoint, the Devel Sixteen is certainly very eye-catching. Obviously inspired by designs such as the Lamborghini Veneno, Lamborghini Egoista and Pagani Zonda it definitely looks like no other supercar on the market.

  1. that is the biggest bunch of baloney I have ever heard, it will never hit anywhere near that speed, if it has the claimed horsepower that it says it does, it will no produce enough downforce or be able to get the power to the ground in rear wheel drive like it is, that is completely ludricris and never going to work, even if it had AWD, it still wouldn't get the power down to the ground
