Lamborghini Gallardo's Successor to be Detailed This Year

It has all but been confirmed that the Lamborghini Gallardo’s replacement, currently pinned as the 2015 Lamborghini Cabrera, will have its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2014 in March. However, reports have emerged suggesting that the first details about the new entry-level Lamborghini supercar will be released before Christmas!

If the lead-up to the release of the Lamborghini Aventador is anything to go by, the engine and transmission of the Gallardo’s successor could be unveiled later this month as well as some preliminary performance specifications. When discussing this imminent release of information, a Lamborghini official said to In Auto News ““The Gallardo follower will be unveiled in 2014 and a first press release will be send out before Christmas”.

Wildspeed Renderings of 2015 Lamborghini Cabrera

Throughout the lead-up to next year’s release of the Gallardo’s successor, various technical specifications have tentatively emerged. These suggest that car is expected to feature an all-new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This indicates that Lamborghini has finally succumbed to the pressure and won’t release the Cabrera with a similar ISR transmission to the range-topping Lamborghini Aventador.

That new gearbox will then be mated to an upgraded variant of the 5.2-liter V10 engine currently found in the Gallardo. In Cabrera-specification, expect around 600hp. As a result, we can expect a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in the low 3 second range with a top speed of around 320 km/h (200 mph).

All shall be revealed very soon!
