New Porsche 911 Carrera Variant Spied Testing

A mysterious Porsche 991 911 Carrera prototype has been spotted testing in what could be a new performance guise or in fact the mid-life facelift for the 991-generation 911 due in around 2015 or 2016.

As it stands Porsche has released no less than 14 different variants of the 991 911. These range from the standard Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S through to the brand new Turbo, Turbo S and GT3. One notable 911 not yet offered in the 991 guise is a Carrera GTS. Consequently, there is a very good chance that this prototype is just that, the upcoming 991 911 GTS.

Such a car could prove to the second most potent naturally-aspirated 911 behind the GT3. However, from the rear, this prototype is featuring light camouflage covering slightly modified taillights suggesting that it could also be a facelifted model.
