2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R Debuting at Detroit

The last time we saw the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R testing was when it made an appearance at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance back in August. Now it has emerged that the new Corvette based racer will be officially debuted at the Detroit Motor Show 2014 in mid-January.

Following on from its Detroit debut, the new Corvette C7.R will have its racing debut at the Rolex 24 in Daytona also held in January.

Built by Pratt & Miller, the 2014 Corvette C7.R will be competing in racing series all around the world including the new TUDOR United SportsCar Racing Championship in the U.S. It will also compete in famous races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. While the C7.R’s debut is just a few weeks away, no technical specifications about the vehicle are known at this stage. One suggestion is that it could feature an uprated variant of the 5.5-liter V8 engine from the Corvette C6.R.

Also debuting at the Detroit Motor Show 2014 will be the eagerly anticipated 2015 Corvette Stingray Z06. Originally dubbed the Z07 during testing, the new Z06 is expected to feature a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine producing upwards of 600 hp. When debuting alongside the Corvette C7.R, the Chevrolet booth will be unquestionably one of the highlights from the show!
