Official: Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG Petronas Green Edition

Mercedes-Benz has just released a special variant of the Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG for the Japanese market dubbed the Petronas Green Edition. For those that didn’t now, Petronas is the title sponsor for the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 team.

The Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG Petronas Green Edition comes standard with the otherwise optional Edition 1 package. This includes a new carbon fiber front splitter, carbon front canards, side skirts, unique sport wheels, carbon mirror caps and an aggressive roof spoiler. As for the Petronas Green Edition, it includes new exterior vinyls with a unique green design as well as the words ‘AMG Performance Studio’ down the sides.

This unique green finish is accented throughout the entire car including the headlights, front grille surround, mirrors and the wheel rims. The green theme is carried into the cabin and is notably featured on the steering wheel, paddle shifters, gear selector, air vents, floor mats as well as all of the car’s interior stitching!

Mechanically speaking, the Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG Petronas Green Edition remains the same as the standard car. That means it features the brand new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine rated at 360 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Despite the appreciable reductions, the AMG still sets the bar higher than its rivals. The four-cylinder is the most powerful ‘series production’ four-cyinder engine in the world, as well as the second most power dense unit in existence (the number one spot goes to the McLaren P1′s V8 unit). Power is transferred through a familiar 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Just 30 units of the Petronas Green Edition will be made for the Japanese market.
