Porsche Slows Down Pitstop of 919 Hybrid

With the racing debut of the Porsche 919 Hybrid edging ever closer, Porsche has released a slow motion clip looking at a pit stop of the 919 Hybrid.

Without a doubt one of the most overlooked components of racing from the eye of fans, pit stops can literally be pivotal to the result of absolutely any racing series. This video highlights the importance of getting each and every pit stop absolutely perfect in the minimal amount of time.

Not too long ago, it was confirmed that the 2014 Porsche 919 Hybrid will feature a four-cylinder engine with direct injection and mated to two energy recuperation systems (KERS). By comparison, Porsche’s main rival in Audi and its R18 e-tron Quattro uses a turbodiesel V6 engine mated to an electric motor while the Toyota’s brand new TS040 uses a V8 engine along with two electric motors.

As it stands, Porsche has yet to release any other information about this new engine but it is certainly indicating at a very exciting future for endurance racing!

As for the new Porsche 919 Hybrid, six drivers have been fielded among them being the newly confirmed New Zealander Brendon Hartley (24) and long-standing Porsche works driver Marc Lieb (33) from Germany; the two are now regular driver. The rest are Timo Bernhard (DE, 32), Romain Dumas (FR, 36), Neel Jani (CH, 30) and the Australian Mark Webber (37).
