Hit the Streets in BAC Mono With Sector111 CEO

When we had the chance to drive the BAC Mono last year, we found it to be a true revelation. With its sleek and understated looks, central driving position and potent powerplant, it really is one of the most exciting cars on the market.

In 2012, Sector111 became the official distributor for the Mono in the United States and in the following video, Sector111 CEO Shinoo Mapleton talks about the BAC Mono at length as he hits the roads in California for what would inevitably be a truly unforgettable driving experience.

As a reminder, the BAC Mono is powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine courtesy of Cosworth. It delivers a potent 285 hp and is mated to a Formula 3000 six-speed sequential transmission created by Hewland. When combined with the light overall weight of the Mono, it can sprint to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 274 km/h.

The driver is secured by a full six-point racing harness by Willans and there is a secure locker in which to store a helmet and the detachable steering wheel when parked. The seat is fixed for optimum weight distribution (48/52 front to rear), and drivers of varying shapes and sizes can be readily accommodated thanks to the fully adjustable pedal box and steering column that can be altered for both height and rake. There is even the option of an F1-style fully-profiled seat.

The braking is by AP Racing, the bespoke HRT alloy wheels by OZ Racing, the purpose-developed, street-legal track tyres by Kumho, and the vehicle electronics and instrumentation by GEMS.
