Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Drops Some Camo

The upcoming 2016 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG has been spied testing with the least amount of camouflage thus far. Consequently, the spy shot you see above along with the extras in the link below you’ll find, provide us with our best glimpse of the latest AMG-powered car.

At the rear, this Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG prototype was rolling on sexy flat black sports wheels complete with a silver outer lip. Hiding behind these wheels along with those at the front are massive cross-drilled brake discs. Additionally, we can also see a more aggressive rear bumper along with a new rear diffuser and quad exhaust pipes. At the back, there is some camouflage on the lower part of the rear bumper as well as on the decklid where a bootlid spoiler can be seen.

Under the hood, the new C63 AMG will receive a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine in favour of the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 currently used. This new engine will continue with Mercedes-Benzes introduction of smaller capacity engines and will eventually replace the current 5.5-liter twin-turbo. For those that didn’t know, the AMG 6.2-liter V8 engine has been largely phased out and replaced by the 5.5-liter powertrain.

Currently codenamed M177, the new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is predicted to produce between 454 hp and 493 hp depending on the specification ordered. It will then be mated to the 7G-MCT SpeedShift automatic transmission currently used in a selection of other AMG models.
