Jaguar Planning All-Wheel Drive and Speedster F-Type Variants

In Jaguar’s efforts to make the stunning F-Type even more competitive with the Porsche 911 line-up, the British firm is reportedly planning a host of new F-Type variants along with additional powertrains.

First off, Car Magazine is reporting that Jaguar is working on offering an all-wheel drive system available to order for most Jaguar F-Type models. Importantly however, future F-Type variants to sit above the current F-Type Coupe R will likely feature rear-wheel drive only. And these new variants, likely to include an F-Type R-S and F-Type R-S GT prepared by Jaguar Land Rover’s Engineered To Order division won’t only provide Porsche 911 beating performance, but true supercar rivalling potential.

Of course, Jaguar won’t only focus on creating even faster versions of the F-Type. As we’ve known for quite some time, a new 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 300 hp and set to be shared with the Range Rover Evoque R-S, will become the entry-level model.

Additionally, Car Magazine is reporting that a Jaguar F-Type Speedster is in the works and will be inspired by the Project 7 Concept Speedster. While a launch time for such an F-Type isn’t yet known, it is certainly exciting!

Finally, Jaguar could return to the endurance racing in the F-Type in the future!
