2000hp Russian Lamborghini Gallardo Catches Fire Again

When tuning cars to produce almost four times the amount of power they left the factory with, problems are always going to arise. Case in point, this 2000 hp Lamborghini Gallardo Nera from Underground Performance catching on fire at the recently held Unlim 500+ standing mile event held in Greece.

As the following video shows, the fire came after multiple high speed standing mile sprints in the heavily modified Gallardo where it was consistently reaching in excess of 390 km/h! Ultimately, the engine just couldn’t take the abuse any longer and ended up catching on fire. Thankfully, the driver escaped uninjured and ultimately it doesn’t matter, as late last year, this same Gallardo Nera set the standing one mile world record for a Gallardo and a road-legal car.

In its very best run, it completed the quarter mile in just 8.814 seconds at a top speed of 289 km/h. The mile mark came less than 12 seconds later as the heavily modified twin-turbo Gallardo crossed the line in just 20.845 seconds at a top speed of 409.55 km/h!
